22 EAST 64TH STREET
NEW YORK, NEW YORK

1903-1917
TRANSITION
Following rapid turnover among several investors (including William Baylis, Solomon A. Cohn, and Louis Korn), the townhouse was acquired in March 1903 by banker and investor H. P. Goldschmidt, who held the property until 1917.
When banker H. P. Goldschmidt purchased the property in 1903, he filed an alteration docket with prominent architect John H. Duncan to modernize the footprint and expand the living quarters of the 1880–1881 brownstone. The work included erecting a multi-story rear brick extension into the yard to enlarge the floorplates—accommodating expanded service areas, a pantry and kitchen configuration, and additional upper-level bedrooms—alongside comprehensive internal restructuring to integrate the original layout with the newly extended rear footprint.
